Application Process Current Maryland students: All applicants must submit an application form, unofficial transcript, statement of purpose, and writing sample by MARCH 1, 2008. Students must also complete and submit a Resident Life Housing contract and deposit for on-campus living to be considered for this program (see published deadlines at Resident Life.) Applications will be reviewed by a committee, and selection will be based on academic performance, the writing sample, and statement of purpose. Incoming Freshmen: Please send the Director (jmschmid@umd.edu) a short creative writing sample (3-5 pages, double-spaced)along with a short statement of purpose and your birthdate so that we may access your UMD application materials. Apply by MARCH 1, 2008 for best consideration. Writers' House admittance is partially based on students' application for undergraduate admission, and students must apply for admission to UMD by December 1 and be admitted for the Fall.
